Warwick Castle

Set in 64 acres of grounds and gardens, with the River Avon running alongside, Warwick Castle is a stunning example of a grand medieval castle. The ‘mound’ dates back to 1068, built by William the Conqueror, and over the centuries it has played an important role in England’s battles. Open 364 days a year, there are castle tours and history talks as well as jousting shows and events that bring the history to life. A convenient 10 minute walk from the Globe pub.

With a history dating back 800 years, Stratford Upon Avon is most famous for its links to William Shakespeare. Visitors can see his birthplace, Anne Hathaway’s cottage, and New Place where Shakespeare lived until his death in 1616. There are museums, guided tours and open-top bus trips to suit every history fanatic’s needs. The Royal Shakespeare Company has 3 theatres in the town where visitors can experience Shakespeare’s plays in the very place they were written. A 9 mile drive from The Globe pub.

Kenilworth Castle

Kenilworth Castle was first built in the 1120s and remained a royal castle for most of its history. It has an impressive 3-storey keep and a tower, commissioned for Queen Elizabeth I, that can be accessed by staircases and platforms for the first time in 350 years. The Elizabethan gardens have carved arbours, an 18-foot marble fountain and an abundance of floral displays. A 6 mile drive from The Globe pub.
